VIDEO: Kanye West’s Attention-Grabbing SNL Performances
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Performances, Videos, Hip-Hop & Rap,
Last night, Kanye West returned to Saturday Night Live and made the stage his own.
For his performances of “Power” and “Runaway,” the rapper ditched the normal backdrop and went with an eye-catching sea of white.
No matter how you feel about West – you have to admit he produced two of the most memorable performances from an otherwise blah evening.

VIDEO: Reba McEntire Shares the Stage with…Reba McEntire
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Gossip, Videos, Country,
The “Is Reba McEntire Really a Black Man with a Red Wig?” mystery has finally been solved.
During Wednesday’s CMT Music Awards, the real country artist finally shared the stage with the comedian (Kenan Thompson) who simply likes to sing and dress like her.
Based on the reactions of some of the audience members, they either didn’t see the original Saturday Night Live skit or they didn’t find it amusing at all.

Ke$ha’s Horrible SNL Performance
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Performances, Videos, Pop,
Unless you were saved by the Tivo gods, you probably got stuck watching Ke$ha’s utterly horrendous SNL performance this past Saturday night. Her off-key warbling went on for an interminable four minutes, and the song itself is pretty horrible on its own merit (tell me, what does it mean, exactly, to “wake up feelin’ like P. Diddy,” and how do you know?).
Nonsensical lyrics, absolutely confusing costuming and out-of-sync choreography would have easily sunk Ke$ha’s ship even if she hadn’t opened her mouth to sing…which, unfortunately, she did. To her credit, I’m pretty sure she didn’t lip-sync the performance (something a few notable SNL musical guests have been ripped apart for doing), but in Ke$ha’s case that might have been the better route to take.

VIDEO: Did Ke$ha Steal Sia’s Glow-in-the-Dark Act?

You can call Ke$ha‘s recent performance of “Your Love is My Drug” trippy, creative, colorful or strange—but whatever you do, don’t call it original.
After watching the singer’s appearance from last weekend’s Saturday Night Live, make sure you check out the two clips after the jump.

Saturday Night Live Rips Apart We Are the World Remake
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Videos,
“We are the World, was good the first time….”
Realizing the 25th anniversary-remake of the famous USA for Africa song was a colossal mess, “Quincy Jones” (a.k.a. Kenan Thompson) introduced a newer version of the song yesterday on Saturday Night Live.
It’s not entirely clear where proceeds from “We are the World 3: Raising Awareness of the We are the World 2 Disaster” will go to.

Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij on His Gay Anthem
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Alternative,
Vampire Weekend‘s Rostam Batmanglij said he hopes “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” will be a huge hit with the gay community one day.
“With that song I was having fun, but at the same time it was honest - those lyrics are meaningful to me, they come from my heart,” the keyboardist, who publicly revealed his sexuality, said about the track he wrote last year for his side project, Discovery. “I was disappointed when it didn’t become a gay anthem, but, you know, it’s not too late.”
Speaking about his main band’s new record, Contra, the 26-year-old talked about how the group worked to develop a postmodern feel for some of the tracks.
“We wanted something very different from the first record,” Rostam said about Vampire’s CD to Out magazine. “You hear ‘80s harmonies on Contra, and for me that was the challenge: to make it not just sound like the ‘80s but feel like the ‘80s too. Because of the way it’s presented, with the sampler and choir, the song ‘I Think Ur a Contra’ sounds new but also nostalgic.”
Vampire Weekend is scheduled to make their second appearance on Saturday Night Live on March 6.

VIDEO: Reba McEntire is Secretly a Black Man?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Gossip, Videos, Country,
This may be the biggest story on the country music scene since Taylor Swift’s win for Entertainer of the Year.
On last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, we learned several interesting facts:
- Joseph Gordon-Leavitt can do backflips off walls.
- Dave Matthews does a mean Ozzy Osbourne impression.
- Reba McEntire is really a black man with a red wig?
Press play to watch Kenan Thompson and Andy Samberg in one of the most random - and possibly controversial - digital shorts in some time.

Lady Gaga’s Saturday Night Light performances
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Performances, Videos, Pop,
It seems a lot of you are searching for Lady Gaga‘s performances from the October 3 episode of SNL, so we’ve got them both here for you. The video above was actually her second performance on the show, but it’s the one we thought was more interesting. In it, she performs a medley of “LoveGame,” “Bad Romance,” and a version of “Poker Face” that’s been remixed with a New York City flavor.
We’ve got her other performance for you after the jump, where she sings “Paparazzi.”
